Scripts : ImportExport Text from Illustrator    

Extracting and reintegrating text from Adobe Illustrator CS files WITHOUT loosing formatting. General window once the tool is started:


Prior to export please save AI file in the different location in the case of any issue during the export it will be easy to repeat the process.

B U T T O N S

Export Texts to File
- exports all text boxes into one text file.
Import Texts from File
- imports single text file with all texts into text boxes.
Export Texts to Files
- exports each text box into separate text files.
Import Texts from Files
- imports individual text files into frame boxes.
SAVE FILE WITH NEW NAME OR ONLY IN NEW PLACE BEFORE EXPORT AND SAVE AFTER EXPORT - click CTRL+S - script set TAGs for exported TextFrames - if you don't save file after Export - you can't Import texts.
(don't care about this in BatchMode)
ShowTagged Frames
- display list of TAGs, when you click on the item on the list it will highlight text box in Illustartor
Delete ALL Tags
- removes all the TAGs from the text file!!!
Local Format To Char Style
- creates styles in the Illustartor file – they are created basing on the local formatting in Illustartor file (there is one issue known – TAB position is currently not supported so it is necessary to check it after translated text is imported back).

AutoCall LocalFormatToCharStyle
- texts will be auto-styled before export
Select
- Select current processed character - VERY VERY SLOW - use only for testing
Batch Processing
- show options for auto multi file exporting.
Import of the translated files
– open AI file and then click on Import Texts from Files or Import Texts from File depending on the export option you selected. TXT file(s) need to be in same directory with Illustrator file. There are 3 counters below the box showing some information during the processing – 1) which frame is currently processed (of total numbers of frames) 2) which paragraph (of total numbers of paragraphs) 3) which character (of total numbers of characters)

Source
– select sorce files for processing and then double click on the name the file you want to process
Destination
– location of the Output files (below there are options for saving AI files)



Sub Directories / Add From ALL Sub Dirs
– allows to add alll the files (AI or EPS) from the selected directory and subdirectories.
Don’t Sort
– turn off sorting Delete
– deletes all selected items



Change Destination Path

– changes target destination of the files (harddrive letter and the path should be changed in the DESTINATION window)
For ALL
– for all files on the list
For SELECTED
– for selected files on the main list
Erase Sub Path For SELECTED
– removes information about the structure of target subfolders for all selected files.



Options for selecting/deselecting checkboxes on the list.
Only files that are selected on the list are processed.
